The joy of parenthood is an overwhelming feeling. In the beginning you are overwhelmed with excitement and the possibilities of what the future will hold for your child. The excitement, joy, fears and worries never stop from the moment from conception until the end of time.
Our kids are all “adults” according to the law. The youngest is 18 and the oldest just shy of 30 with the middle enjoying the fun of being 21. We were fortunate enough this Thanksgiving to have the gang together.
We had such a great time having the family together. The gift of having the eldest and his bride, visiting with the middle and her significant other and along come the parents and the baby of the group. Watching the antics fall in to the pattern of birth order, silliness, love, hugs, kisses, selfies, group pics all of it sheer joy for hubby and I.
It was an amazing feeling, sitting back listening to the stories, laughter and their dreams. They are all so different and at the same time so alike. It made us smile as we realized the best gift is being able to see the world through the eyes of a child. It does not matter the age, they will always be younger then us, we pray their dreams will always be larger then we could have imagined. We could not love them more or be more excited for them as they each make their mark in the world!
BTW they will all be home for Christmas and they have their lists for Santa! Lucky parents we are.
